Max struggling with grip problems

Max finished the two-day test on Phillip Island on a good tenth position. He could improve his lap time from the day before again but slipped in the overall standings by three places backwards. After having found a good feeling for his Honda CBR quickly yesterday, today’s task was to work on a good race set-up for next Sunday.

There were some showers in the morning on Phillip Island, thus all the pilots lost precious testing time. Max was also slowed down by a harmless fall in the afternoon. The time until the first practice session on Friday will be bridged with various activities. For tomorrow a surf trip with the entire Ten Kate team is planned.

Max: "I had a different idea of today’s day. My bike simply doesn’t set up any grip at the rear wheel which is spinning constantly. We have turned the chassis completely inside out, but this didn’t really help much. Most of the four-cylinder engines are struggling with this problem. A fall took me a lot of time too, this was not helpful. After the Honda bend the gear popped out and I had to drive a long line. Off the racing line the track was pretty dirty so my rear wheel swerved. When I wanted to try out a soft tire at the end of the day, it didn’t work.

But there are also positive things to report about. I could make precise statements about the bike to my crew again, I found this difficult during the other tests. I even notice the smallest changes that are made on the bike. We still have some ideas for next Friday to solve the existing problems. I will spend the next days together with the team and just relax. In spite of everything I’m really looking forward to the race. Finally it’s starting again and the long waiting is over ..."
