Max looks ahead

After a difficult weekend at the opening races in Australia Max and his Ten Kate Honda team are looking positively ahead. Max finished the first race after a nine months compulsory break on the twelfth place. At the beginning of the second race it worked out much better for Max until he lost much time due to a fault while braking. At the end it did only for the sixteenth place and so not for the expected points. After two of 26 races Max is on the fifteenth place in the overall standings.

Max: "The weekend was a very difficult one for me. We still tested two different set-ups in the warm up. With one the steering behavior was much better straightaway but when speeding up I had a lot of chattering at the rear wheel. On this basis we had to build the setting for the first race. After the tire had a few laps on the clock, I could not accelerate anymore as desired. I am not satisfied at all with the twelfth place but that was the best I could do. During the lunch break we built in a harder spring for the second race which was the right decision afterwards. I could keep up with the group in front of me very well and followed Biaggi closely in his slipstream. Unfortunately, I miscalculated when braking in the Honda bend and had to go through the meadow. This fault had cost me more than twenty seconds and after that my race was over. But nevertheless I'm happy being able to do two races completely after about nine months. There’s a lot of work to do but I am confident that we will get somewhere soon. Thanks to my team that had really a lot of work and is giving me the necessary support. I think my mechanics are now able to build in the spring elements blindfolded. Physically I have never felt that fit after a race weekend like after this race. We will analyze the data from the weekend now and tackle the task positively with new ideas in Portimao..."
