All beginnings are difficult
Despite an increase of more than one second on today's Saturday Max could not significantly improve. In the Super Pole he missed advancing to the second round on his Ten Kate Honda by a tenth. Max will start tomorrow’s two races on Phillip Island from the seventeenth position.
Max: "This morning we have made the first move into the right direction. But the practice sessions are lasting only forty-five minutes. When you are in trouble, it is not easy to adjust the bike in this short time. In the morning I was over one second faster, but still only seventeenth! I have lost only seven tenths to the first in the qualifying C. Checa. Everything is damn close together. In the free practice session in the afternoon we then found another piece of the puzzle. My Ten Kate crew made the bike softer at the front which has resulted in significantly improved steering behavior. But again it was too little time to work further in this direction. In the Super Pole I followed S. Byrne who was fast all weekend. Unfortunately this plan backfired. To be honest I imagined my return to be easier. Nine months without racing, a new team and bike, this just needs a little more time to harmonize perfectly. We are on the right path and who knows what the races will bring tomorrow ..."
